The Club at Juhu in Mumbai, exhibited a marvellous opus of art and craft. The exhibition was organised by Archana Trust Foundation known to have adopted a village, established an old age home and a tribal school- all in the district of Shahpur, and is running the organization successfully for the past 10 years. The accessories and apparel reflected a pleasant festive mood on display at the designer stalls.
Varieties of ethnic wear, saris and accessories were available at various stalls, catering to all age groups. With the festival of Rakshabandhan being round the corner, made ladies and teenagers shop for beautiful Rakhis. The crowd seemed to be enjoying the downpour in the city with tea and snacks at food court. Kiran Jalan, the president of The Archana Foundation said, “The idea behind organizing this small fair is to do a charity from whatever profit we make out of it. Besides that, budding designers and newcomers get a good platform by displaying their creativity here.
They are happy about the profit and contacts they make here. Even though it’s too much of a responsibility for us, I am happy because all is done for various charity and social causes.” Amrapali Jewels, a renowned jewellery brand also showcased their antique jewellery collections inspired by Rajasthani tribal art.
The exquisite jewellery has been adorned by Brad Pitt, Jenniffer Lopez, Beyonce, Jenniffer Hawkins and Bipasha Basu. Television stars like Shweta Keswani and Shweta Salve were seen at the Amrapali stall trying some ethnic pieces for themselves. Also spotted was Nakul, the star from Haal E Dil. A rarely spotted face was that of Pooja Ruparel who is still well recollected as the Chutki from Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge. By and large it was a successful exhibition with the turnout of a huge crowd despite the rains looming large in the city.
